12×12” original art on Birch Wood Panel ~ Framed in Black Wood Frame (13×13” finished size) If you prefer a natural wood frame, please email me.
This piece is part of my Aloka the Peace Dog Series.
Like millions across the country and around the globe, I was so inspired by Aloka and the Buddhist monks during their 2,300 mile Walk for Peace. The event began on October 26, 2025 with approximately 19 Buddhist monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Havana Center in Fort Worth, Texas and their journey ended in Washington DC on February 10, 2026.
Aloka, who became known as the Peace Dog, originally joined the monks during a peace walk in India in 2022. Although at the time he was a nameless stray, he joined the monks, walking beside them with unwavering loyalty. Even after being hit by a car he stayed with the group and the monks eventually raised $14,000 to cover his medical check-ups, paperwork, and flights to America, making him a legal U.S. resident.
The monks named this precious little stray, Aloka, meaning light or enlightenment in Sanskrit. The white heart on his forehead is the perfect symbol for the love, compassion and peace that he carries with him wherever he goes.
